The Enchanted Rock Collection: A Tale of Two Megoliths
Located 20 miles north of Fredericksburg, Texas, on Ranch Road 965, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area contains the largest granite exfoliation domes in North America. Tonkawa Indians believed ghost fires flickered at the top, and they heard weird creaking and groaning, which geologists now say resulted from the rock’s heating by day and contracting in the cool night. Hence the name Enchanted Rock.
The area can be a photographer’s dream, especially in the off-seasons when visitors are minimal. The images here were taken in April, 2011, and represent just a small fraction of the 640 acre site. And there is a lifetime of photographs to be taken in this rugged but fragile area.
The photographs are limited editions, matted, framed, and come with a Certificate of Authenticity and print care instructions.
