The Padre Island Collection: October 2013

Having never been a big fan of the beaches in Galveston, and always eager to photograph places I’ve never been I was eager, along with my wife Brenda, to accept an invitation from our friends Tommy and Bonnie Watson to spend a few days with them on Padre Island, of which I was aware that its beaches are the best in Texas. And it was a great place to spend my birthday.

Our accommodations were very nice, a 2 bedroom townhouse with our own private pool. Indeed the beaches were excellent and the water clear and aqua blue-green. There was a sandcastle competition at Clayton’s Beach Club along with live music and vendors selling their wares. We also enjoyed an evening dinner cruise on the Southern Wave Catamaran, complete with great food, live acoustic music, calm waters and perfect weather.

The photo opportunities on Padre are excellent and I was very pleased that my efforts paid off, in particular, the beach shots with dramatic skies and the walkway bridges. Thank you, Bonnie and Tommy. We shall do it again.
